Full Time Officer - Ed Goodenough

I joined Openreach in 2017 after some time working as a contractor, and it wasn’t long before I found my place in the CWU. I got involved with the branch committee early on and started helping out with our online presence—just wanting to make a difference where I could. That step led to bigger opportunities, and in 2021 I was elected Branch Chair and Assistant Regional Secretary, focusing on equality across the South East for both telecoms and postal members.

In 2023, I took on the role of Secretary for the Portsmouth, West Sussex & Isle of Wight Branch, and in 2025, I joined the CWU National Team looking after BT Business. Now, in the newly merged South East Telecoms Branch, I’m proud to be Deputy Secretary, continuing to represent members across the region, as well as continuing my roles as assistant regional secretary for the South East, and with the BT Business National Team.

I’m passionate about equality, mental wellbeing, and making sure working people get a fair deal—not just the few at the top. I believe the union is strongest when it’s open, inclusive, and member-driven. If you ever need support, ideas, or just a chat, I’m here.
